We currently offer a selection of pantograph (all-over) quilting patterns. To see the patterns available, please click here or on the "Patterns" tab above. We can also work with you if you have a favorite quilt design that you would like to use instead.
Our rates are based on the specific quilt design selected and are generally between $.0125 to $.02/per square inch. Here is how to estimate the cost of having your top quilted:
1. Measure the width and length of your top through the middle of your quilt top;
2. Multiply the width by the height, which will give you the number of square inches. Take the number of square inches and multiply by the per square inch cost.
For example, here is the cost for a standard sized twin quilt with a simple pattern:
65" x 88" = 5,720 square inches
5,720 x $.0125 = $71.50
Please note that there is a minimum fee of $45.00.
Our batting of choice is Quilters Dream Blend, which is a blend of 70% cotton and 30% polyester. This batting is wonderfully soft, yet strong. We have tried many different brands of batting and have found that Quilters Dream Blend offers the most beautiful finish.
Quilters Dream Blend (as well as other fine battings by Quilters Dream) is available for purchase at $8.50 per yard for a 93-inch width. The following are examples of the amount of batting that might be required for given quilt sizes:
Throw (60" x 60") - $14.40
Twin (93" x 72") - $17.28
Double (93" x 93") - $22.32
Queen (108" x 93") - $25.92
*King (122" x 122") - $31.50
The final cost of batting will depend upon the exact amount used for your quilt and will be included in your invoice.
*If both edges of your quilt are more than 90 inches, you will need a king-sized batting. The flat rate for Quilters Dream Blend king batting is $31.50.
Our thread of choice is Superior So Fine. This thread is a thin polyester, which provides excellent stitch definition. If you prefer a 100% cotton thread, Aurifil Mako is also available upon request. We try to use a neutral thread color to best blend in with your top and backing.
There are no separate charges for thread!
You provide the backing, but we are happy to piece it for you as a complimentary service!
If you provide the fabric, we will be happy to prepare and attach the binding for you. The binding is attached by machine on the front and back. This means that unlike binding that is sewn by hand, there will be a line of top-stitching on the back side of the binding. For an example of binding finished by machine only, click here. The rate for binding is $0.15 per linear inch.
The rate for basting is the $45 minimum charge for any size quilt top. Separate charges apply for batting and shipping, and you provide the backing. This is a great option if you intend to hand quilt that heirloom top!
The current turn-around time is 2 to 3 weeks from the date we receive your quilt. We will contact you to let you know your quilt top has arrived in our shop.
Shipping in the United States is $20, which will be included in your invoice.
To send us your quilt top and backing, we suggest using a medium or large flat rate Priority Mail box available at any US Post Office. Most quilt tops and backing (without batting) should fit into a medium flat rate box, which is $11.35 and is guaranteed to arrive in 2-3 days. Please see usps.com for additional details.
